The Committee to Promote the French Language

Created in 2011, the Committee to Promote the French Language (comité Valorisation de la langue française) supports Culture Montréal in its effort to encourage the use of the French language within the workplace.

In October 2008, during the Rendez-vous des gens d’affaires held by the Government of Québec and the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montréal, a number of representatives from Montréal companies and socio-economic organizations, including Culture Montréal, signed a Stratégie commune d’intervention pour Montréal 2008-2013, committing themselves to promote, by concrete measures, the use of French in small and medium-sized Montréal businesses and organizations. The program was renewed in Onctober 2013 and continues as the Stratégie commune d’intervention pour le Grand Montréal 2013-2015.

Relying on the Stratégie commune d’intervention and Culture Montréal’s Declaration of Principles on the French Language, the committee works with Culture Montreal’s staff to ensure the development and implementation of the Français en scène project, which brings together all of Culture Montréal’s actions toward a broader use of the French language within cultural and artistic workplaces.
